red valleys and multicolored lagoons, culminating in the 
pacchanta hot springs.

Itinerary

Day 1

Rainbow Mountain:

After 3.5 hours of transportation, we will ride a motorcycle to the top and push the bikes to the Red Valley viewpoint. Descent via freeride and singletrack to Chilca, where we will spend the night at a family home, observing the Milky Way.

7 Ausangate Lagoons

Recommendations

Required level:
This tour is recommended for intermediate and advanced riders in good physical condition. It involves cycling and climbing to passes above 5,200 m.

Mandatory acclimatization:
It is essential to spend a minimum of 2–3 days in Cusco before the tour. The extreme altitude can affect performance if you are not properly acclimatized.

Maximum altitude:
Over 5,200 m (17,000 ft). It's a demanding high-altitude experience.

Required equipment:

  • Helmet (preferably a full-face helmet for technical descents)

  • Knee pads and elbow pads

  • Long gloves

  • Goggles

  • Hydration pack

Recommended clothing:

  • Layering system (thermal base layer, mid-layer, windproof layer)

  • Waterproof jacket

  • Buff or neck protector

  • Thermal gloves

  • Lenses for high UV radiation

Terrain conditions:
High mountain trails with technical sections, freeride descents, natural singletrack, rocky passages, and exposed sections. Weather can change rapidly.

Weather:
Cold temperatures in the morning and at night. Possible strong winds and sudden changes.

How demanding is the tour?

It's a challenging high-altitude experience, both physically and technically. The altitude is the main challenge.

Do you pedal all the time?

Not entirely. At Rainbow Mountain, a motorcycle is used for the approach, and then the bicycle is pushed to the Red Valley viewpoint. The second day includes packhorse support.

What type of bicycle is used?

A full suspension bicycle suitable for technical high mountain terrain is included.

Where do we sleep?

In a family home in Chilca. Basic but authentic accommodation, with an Andean cultural experience.

Is there a phone signal?

Very limited or non-existent in several areas of the route.
